Marcel Baudot, a big-band drummer who went on to become a pioneer in electronic banking, died Sunday August 15, 2010 of cancer at his Metairie home. He was 80.
A lifelong New Orleanian who had a love of music, Marcel Baudot started started his own band, the Rhythm Aires, when he was a 17-year-old student at Francis T. Nicholls High School. He joined the Sophisticats, an eight-member group, in the 1950s.
Marcel Baudot kept playing while he was building a career at Hibernia National Bank. His last gig, in 2009, was at the annual meeting of his son Brian’s law firm.
