Nolo's official name is Manolo Honkoop (Rhenen, 1970). He is a very talented musician who plays many instruments - though he's best at drums and percussion. Nolo started playing drums in 1983, and is fully autodidact. "I learned from everyone I've played with", he claims. He names Jeroen van Hoof, Seger Uyterlinde and Jay Lorou as inspirational to work with.



Nolo was involved in many bands, including local acts Fatal Attack, C.O.D, Sense of What, Kaketoe, Datura and Zomer. He also played with metallers Sinister, Darkside and Krabathor.



Previously he played in death metal band Judgement Day, with whom he toured four times through Eatern Europe. Nolo left the band in 1996 due to a lack of interest. Nolo was replaced by Wim van de Valk (Centurion).



For a while Nolo continued to play in funk band d’Upyoghurted with whom he reached the finals of the 'Grote Prijs van Nederland', the nation's biggest band competition, in 1998. He received an award as 'best drummer' during that performance.



In 2001 Nolo joined progressive death metal band Warchitect, though his favourite music styles are still reggae and world music. Nolo stayed with Warchitect until 2007.



In June 2001 he played as a session drummer at the Heidepop Festival with De Bemanning.



Nowadays he also runs his own professional recording studio called AudioEmotion and composes, creates and records music for commercials, soundscapes, documentaries and films. Nolo was already involved in recordings of Bayuba Cante, Tolga Emilio Trio and Adrian Elissen. With the latter Nolo recorded a live album of his flamenco project.



Besides his studio Nolo spends time with reggae formation New Sound Sistim. Looking back at 2003, Nolo names his gig with the New sound System in Unitas with the Paul van Kemenade Quintet and Les Frères Guissé from Senegal as the musical experience best remembered.
