Maarten Klarenbeek is drummer and co-founder of Utrecht based death metallers Virulent. The band started in 1998.
One year later, in May 1999, the band made their live debut at a metal festival in their hometown Utrecht. This performance impressed underground label Skullcrusher Records enough to request two songs for inclusion on a compilation album.
An EP, "Under The Hex Of Amdusias", was issued in 2000 via Skullcrusher, followed by the 4 track EP "Prime of Naught" in 2005.
