Jazz drummer Louis Baranyi-Irvine appeared at the Toronto International Jazz Festival as part of a Youth Jazz Showcase, along with bass player Holt Stuart-Hitchcox.
When he first picked up the drumsticks at age 11, his initial motivation wasn’t purely about the music: "To be honest, at a young age when I started, my dad would always tell me that the drummer would get the most girls."
Louis Baranyi-Irvine cites drummer Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience as one of his first big influences. But the artist whom he said made him want to start learning jazz and refining his craft was Buddy Rich.
