Krzysztof Raczkowski (Ketrzyn, Poland, 1970), best known as Doc or Docent, was long-time drummer in Polish death metal veterans Vader. He joined the band in 1988 and helped them build a solid reputation all over the world by impressive hard working, craftmanship and musical enthousiasm.



Previously Krzysztof Raczkowski/Doc had played with Skandal (Rock-Pop), Dyktator (Speed/Thrash), OverDubTrio, Unborn, DeadBambi, Slashing Death (Death/grindcore), Sweet Noise and Hunter. Doc joined Slashing Death in 1988, replacing Piotr "Gasior" Darczuk. He stayed until 1990 and was followed up by Piotr "Taras" Tarasewicz.



Doc also had a side project called Moon for a while, featuring Cezar from Christ Agony. The first album was recorded with just those two and a guest keyboardist, but by the time of "Satan's Wept" Doc was gone and Cezar had recruited an entire new lineup. On "Satan's Wept" the focus is on fast-paced symphonic black metal, with plenty of (programmed?) double-bass drumming and layered keyboards atop typical black metal riffs. Apparently the band didn't play live until the summer of 1999 and disbanded soon thereafter.



During a recording session with Vader in early 2004, drummer Doc met with an unfortunate accident at the studio. He seriously injured his hand and leg during the third day of working at Hertz. The band was forced to cancel the session and postpone recordings until May that year. Drummer Daray (real name: Darek Brzozowski) from Polish black metal band Vesania temporarily joined the band as a session musician, taking over the drums on the new record and gigs and tours for a while.



In March 2005 Vader announced the departure of Doc, adding Daray to the band's line-up as his successor and structural drummer. In later interviews Vader members elaborated on Doc's "weaknesses," stating "problems with alcohol".



On August 20, 2005, Krzysztof Raczkowski unexpectedly passed away. He will be missed.
