As a Professional Drummer and renowned musician in the national and international stage, Kin Rivera Jr's trajectory has amazed the musical environment in which he has grown up.
Born on January 24, 1980 in San Jose, Costa Rica, Kin Rivera Jr started playing his father’s drums at the age of 7. His dad was his first teacher, guide and inspiration... No wonder why, because Mr. Kin Rivera is one of the most important, popular, and influential drummers in Costa Rica.
Kin Jr. developed the same qualities as his dad and that is why he is now one of the most demanded musicians in the country.
He has worked with many of Costa Rica’s top artists including Sexteto de Jazz Latino (Rubén Blades’s musicians), Adrián Goizueta y el Experimental, Ares, Porpartes, Suite Doble, Kadeho, Fusión Caribe, Manuel Obregón, Tito Oses, Patricio Torres and some international artists such as Nito Mestre (Argentina), La Quinta Estación (Spain), Patricio Borguetti (Argentina), David Bisbal (Spain), Luis Enrique Mejía Godoy (Nicaragua) , recently he made a performance with Fareed Haque (USA) and many others. In 1997, Kin Rivera Jr's musical career began when he put together a band known today as Ares, starting the project with his inseparable friend and great musician, Darwin Bolaños. He began to study with members of Costa Rica’s National Symphonic Orchestra and also started his college studies in classical percussion in the University of Costa Rica. During this time he began to concentrate on Jazz, Samba, Salsa, Progressive, Latin and Fusion music, among others.
On December 31, 1999, Kin recorded his first live album. Something with special meaning for him because besides marking a change of century, he was able to perform with his father, Mr. Kin Rivera. This album was titled “EXIGLOS” by Adrian Goizueta and the Experimental Band. It was recorded in The Cultural Plaza in San Jose, Costa Rica.
