Scottish drummer Kenny Hyslop (Helensburgh, Strathclyde, 1951) joined the Simple Minds in August 1981, after initial drummer Brian McGee abhorred touring and had decided to leave.
Previously Kenny Hyslop had played with Slik and Skids.
Hyslop's recorded contribution to the Simple Minds was confined to "Promised You A Miracle".
Although Mike Ogletree joined on Hyslop's departure, a former musician, Mel Gaynor, eventually became the quintet's permanent drummer. All three musicians were featured on the album "New Gold Dream", which peaked at number 3 in the UK album chart.
