Ken Tackett earned degrees in jazz performance and business from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville.
After college, Tackett played in a band at a Las Vegas casino and his group was used in the 2000 film "The Legend of Bagger Vance" and 2001's "Ocean's Eleven."
But the 2001 terrorist attacks convinced Tackett that he was better off being a family man back in West Virginia. He briefly sold cars before going to work at the golf association as its tournament director.
Ken Tackett still sets the beat every Tuesday night in his guest spot with the Bob Thompson Unit at Charleston's Sound Factory.
