Kathy Foster is perhaps best known as bassist in Portland, Oregon based trio The Thermals. However, after original drummer Jordan Hudson left late 2005, remaining members Kathy Foster and Hutch Harris split up duties with Foster on percussion, until drummer Caitlin Love joined The Thermals for their live shows in 2006.
It was not the first time Foster played drums: the Thermals lead singer Hutch Harris and bassist Kathy Foster also make up the Portland folky-pop duo known as Hutch & Kathy, where you'll find Foster on the brush drums. The two-piece released their self-titled debut album on Jealous Butcher Records in 2002.
Kathy Foster also drums for Portland's All Girl Summer Fun Band. The '60s girl group/punk-inspired pop quartet released their self-titled debut longplayer on K Records in 2002, earning the band a write-up from esteemed rock critic Greil Marcus in his Interview column.
And last but knot least she plays in Haelah, and has her own one-woman band, Butterfly Transformation Service.
