Joseph D. Mascis is to many simply known as J. Mascis, band leader in Dinosaur Jr.



When Dinosaur Jr. started around 1984, Mascis initially played drums, but shortly afterward, former All White Jury drummer Murph (real name: Emmett Murphy, joined the group, and Mascis moved to guitar.



Multi-instrumentalist Mascis delivered drums, tympani, chimes, percussion, vocals, guitar, piano, organ, keyboards and bass.



2005 saw Joseph Mascis starting to bash the skins with Witch, the band also featuring Asa Irons and Kyle Thomas, both members of Feathers.
