Jota Morelli was born as Jose Morelli in Argentina. He began studying privately where he laid the groundwork for what was to come in his career.
In 1985, Jota studied at the Drummer's Collective in Manhattan where he took his first steps to work in America. After studying at DC he immediately started working in the studio and on the road with several well known Argentinean acts including, Lito Vitale, Pedro Aznar, Fito Paez and many more.
In 1994 he was a featured performer at the Zildjian day clinic along side such widely recognized drummers as Dennis Chambers, Alex Acuna and Will Calhoun.
Jota performed with Al Jarreau on his 2000 European Tour "Tomorrow Today" and has recently played some dates with Fito Paez.
Jota Morelli has also performed Marc Anthony, Al Jarreau, Alejandro Lerner, Ricky Martin, Frank Gambale, Yahir, Erika, Jorge Correa "Tereso", Soledad, Patricia Sosa, Mike Miller, Bobby McFerrin, Meno Fernandez, Engelbert Humperdinck among many others.
