Jorge Iacobellis is nowadays one of the most representative drummers from Argentina, with his very own personal style on his Mapex Traditional Classic 10 Shells, double bass, that has gained him the audience admiration and the respect of his local and foreign colleagues. His musical education began with the symphony in the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires. Chosen as one of the best heavy drummers in 1992 through a national contest, promoted by the magazine "Drums & Percussion".
In South America, Jorge Iacobellis played for some well known pop rock singers, recordings and taking part in films and TV as a sessionist. He was a member of some of the most representative bands in hard rock and metal styles.
In the early 1990's, Jorge Iacobellis produced, directed and played with Todos Tus Muertos, one of the best rock bands to emerge from Argentina. He was the artistic and executive producer of their second CD "Nena de Hiroshima" and opened shows for Kreator (Germany), Ratos De Porao (Brazil), Steve Jones (Sex Pistols), Mano Negra (France) And The Ramones (Usa).
Jorge Iacobellis toured Brazil as guest drummer for the speed metal band Garcia & Garcia who recorded with Metal Blade, a USA recording company.
Jorge Iacobellis played in multiple drum clinics and drum festivals including on cable TV and video together with Daniel Volpini, one of the most respected and famous local drummer. He appeared on the cover of "Drums & Percussion" magazine. He was the owner of "Mr Drums", a specialized store for drummers and it became a must visit to artists like Billy Cobham, Eric Singer, Nicko McBrain, Carmine Appice, Greg Bissonete, Charlie Bennantte, John Dette and others. He was promoter and producer of international bands on tour. Kreator, Sick Of It All, Vipor, Ratos De Porao, La Guns, Testament and others. He was invited to assist in the tour productions with Kiss, Aerosmith, Robert Plant, Iron Maiden, Machine Head, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bb King, Rolling Stones, Motorhead, Exodus, Sepultura, Ramones, Slayer and Metallica.
With his band Velocet, Jorge Iacobellis opened for Testament, in two shows at Velez Sarsfield Staduim, Buenos Aires. Impressed by his performance, Testament invited him to come and play in the United States with Alter Of The King for the record lable company RTM (Luxembourg).
Since then, Jorge Iacobellis has made the US his home. He has played and recorded with multiple bands like Alter Of The King, Damage (by ex guitarist of "Forbidden" Glen Alvalais), Halfdead, Critical Mass, Prodigal Son and most recently the high energy, hard rock power-trio SilverSteel. Later this year he will be appearing in SilverSteel videos and making appearances on the Los Angeles based TV show Rock TV.
His performances include, Whisky a Go Go, The Roxy Theater, The Palace Theater, Galaxy Theater, Expo Center (San Francisco), Metal fest 2000, Berkley Square (San Francisco), The Sanctorum (Las Vegas) and other venues across Europe and South America.
In August 2002, Jorge Iacobellis became a new member of the band Rosemary's Billygoat, Los Angeles's kings of theatrical metal. He toured with the band throughout the US and Canada presenting their new CD "Evilution" by Porter Records. This CD has worldwide distribution by Virgin and Tower records.
His picture was displayed along with other famous drum artists of Mapex Drums USA at the 2002 and 2003 NAMM shows in Anaheim, CA. You will find his name in Testament's album "The Gathering" under gratuities. Most recently he also attended the 2004 NAMM show where he signed autographs for Regal Tip and Mapex.
In July 2003, Jorge Iacobellis was invited to become the new drummer to the legendary metal band Hirax. With them, he has traveled to Germany to play 2 shows in this years "Bang Your Head Festival", amongst other bands like Dio, Twisted Sisters, Overkill, Dokken and others. In the German newspaper, Jorge was described as a "drum machine missile launcher".
In September, Jorge Iacobellis traveled back home to Argentina and did a drum clinic for the Drummers Club (Club de Bateristas de Argentina). He was very well received by all his fellow colleagues.
In January 2004, in an eight hour session, Jorge recorded the new Hirax cd, all songs on the first take. The new cd reviews describe Jorge"s drumming as follows: "Drumming is excellent, and not used as just a back bone. It's frequently a highlight through and through. Strong double bass, high hat, snares and toms, it's all used with abandon."
On July 15th, 2004 the new cd "The New Age of Terror" was released in Europe by Mausoleum Records, Belgium.
The cd was presented during live concerts at the big 2004 European summer open air music fests: Sweden Rock Festival, Sweden June 10-12th, Headbangers Open Air Festival, Germany July 9-10th and Metal Bash Open Air Festival, Germany July 24th, Dokk'Em Open Air Festival, Holland, August 14th, 2004.
In April 2004, Jorge Iacobellis recorded for Silver Steel, a guitar player from London.
