John Gerritse, as an artist better known as "Johnny G", played in The Marcel Scherpenzeel Band until April 2004.
With his longterm experience and his rockhard and groovy beats he took care of the "heat in the beat" where the band was concerned.
Previously John Gerritse played with the "The Alexander Band (USA)", with frontman Alexander (former Rod Piazza & Mighty Flyers), The Keith Dunn Band (USA), Memo Gonzalez & The Bluescasters (USA). He played in the USA with Johnny Tanner Band (USA), Chico Chism (USA) and Buddy Reed (USA).
With The Marcel Scherpenzeel Band, he performed on many major blues festivals, both national and international. Some highlights: The Belgian Superrally, Lester Butler Tribute at the Paradiso-Amsterdam, Paaspop 1999, Take a Walk Festival, Bospop 2000, Mönchen-Gladbach Bluesfestival 2000, Texel Blues weekend 2000, Open Air am Berg 2001, Fehmarnfestival 2001.
After Gerritse decided to leave The Marcel Scherpenzeel Band, the band quickly recruited David Snel.
