John Coghlan was the original drummer in British rock outfit Status Quo. He joined the Spectres in 1962 and continued with The Quo during their most successful period until 1982 when he left while recording the 1982 album in Montreaux.
John prefers "live" performances to the recording studio and the musical direction Status Quo was taking certainly contributed to Johns departure. Cohlan was replaced by Pete Kircher.
John Coghlan also performed with his own band Diesel and played for a while with Alan Lancaster in the Australian band The Bombers.
These days John can be seen occasionally playing in the Quo tribute band State of Quo in the UK.
