Joel "Pibo" Marquez (Caracas, 1966) is an independent artist and without a doubt is one of the best Latin-jazz percussionists in the world.
He began experiencing music at an early age by the incentive of his family. He studied at the popular school Cristo Rey, where he refined his pleasure for the Latin American percussion and its origins.
From this diverse experiences and especially in the famous Grupo Madera, Pibo Marquez began to open up to other musical styles like salsa and Latin jazz.
He was hired as a percussion player in Alfredo de la Fe's orchestra in 1998, and soon afterwards, the famous guitarist Carlos Santana commissioned him to write some songs for him and to tour with him.
Over the last years Joel "Pibo" Marquez has become one of the most frequent and popular guests at the most important festivals in Europe.
