Jan Rechberger started drumming in 1990 with Amorphis. Though he always tries to catch a groove, he's also pretty tight. On the official Amorphis site Jan explains how he uses a click track:

"I prefer to use click while recording sessions, cause it gives you kind of a "steady" feeling. We used pro-tools sequencer´s click, so basicly the engineer just drives it trough the headphone monitoring system, and usually we record the song with 1 to 3 different tempos to get the right one. Try to rehearse with the click in different tempos (slow ones are harder to catch on with), so trough that you eventually start to "forget" the click and get the intensity with it, but there are many ways, this is mine..."

After the release of "Tales From a Thousand lakes", Jan decide to leave the band. Pekka Kasari replaced him behind the drumkit for a couple of years. With the release of "Far from the Sun" (2003) it turned out that Kasari was out and Rechberger was in again.



Jan has been trough a lot of projects between playing on "Tales..." and rejoining Amorphis: groups like All Human Substitutes (instrumental electronic orientated jam band), Skunky People (electronic fucked up party stuff with vocals by Suho Superstar) and Spiha (infamous stoner rock group based in Hellsinki)
