James Macrae comes from Waterlooville and has been playing drums since September 2000. His interest in music has developed through playing the drums. He now listens to a wide variety of music including: funk, jazz, folk, metal, rock and blues.



James Macrae has played in a variety of situations including a wind band, a swing band and several rock bands. Currently his main focus is a four piece jazz/funk band, which recently made it to the final of the Portsmouth area Battle of the Bands and were the youngest people ever to reach the final.



James Macrae's favourite drummers include Tim Alexander, Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta and Brain (Brian Manta).



James Macrae was one of the finalists of the Young Drummer of the Year (YDOTY), organised by mikedolbear.com, in 2005, 2006 and 2007!
