Jack Osbourne has been playing drums since the age of two. His musical influence came from his father who also played drums and percussion and he still remains as Jack’s closest guide. Apart from his father, the first drummer that Jack was drawn to was Phil Collins. Due to this influence, Jack also began playing piano which continued for many of his early years. From a young age, he was exposed to and began internalising a wide range of musical genres, including Jazz, Funk, Rock, R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop and Latin.



Predominantly self taught, Jack credits, Omar Hakim, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, Peter Erskine, Will Kennedy & Buddy Rich among many others, as his main drumming influences. Some of his more recent influences that have really helped shape his playing, knowledge and future goals include Gerald Heyward, Tony Royster Jr, Gorden Campbell, Aaron Spears, Teddy Campbell, Nisan Stewart, Chris Coleman, Ronald Bruner Jr, Thomas Pridgen, and Chris Johnson.



Throughout his secondary school years, although continuing to play sport, Jack spent the majority of his time practicing and playing drums for long hours as well as gaining invaluable experience playing with various College bands and local acts. During this time, Jack had a unique opportunity to rehearse and play with Bob Mintzer of the Yellowjackets when he was a special guest at his school.



Jack was also offered a number of music scholarships at other schools. He selected to study at the Victorian College of the Arts Secondary School for a period of time in 2008.



Through 2007-2008, Jack had several lessons with renowned Australian drummer Gerry Pantazis and Australian drum legend Graham Morgan.



In July 2010, aged 19, Jack won “Australia’s Best Up & Coming Drummer” Open competition and will open Australia’s Ultimate Drummer’s Weekend in August 2011. In 2010 Jack also had the opportunity to open for Virgil Donati on his “Assault Down Under Tour” in Australia.



He is currently working with various artists from a broad range of genres in and around the Melbourne music scene. He is also teaching and constantly working on skills to not only elevate his drumming, but to also become a diverse and multi-skilled artist in the entertainment industry. Jack endorses Gretsch Drums, Sabian Cymbals, Evans Drum Heads and Vater Sticks.
