Back in the early 1960s Jack Kaplun was a drummer with some of the hottest jazz bands in Toronto.
Jack Kaplun was born in South Porcupine in northern Ontario. But his father Hyman, an employee with London Life, was soon transferred to Vancouver. When Jack Kaplun was 11, the family moved to Toronto.
Though Kaplun's career as a jazz drummer was brief, he continued to play part time, earning money to attend Waterloo Lutheran University and later graduate school at Western University.
In London, he played with legendary jazz pianist John Noubarian at clubs such as the Iroquois and the Smokehouse.
After graduation, Kaplun got a job as a therapist with the Addiction Research Foundation.
