Ian Wright is one of Europe’s most recognized orchestra personalities. He joined the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra as a percussionist in 1965 and became Principal Timpanist of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra one year later, holding that position until 2007 when he retired from the orchestra.
Ian Wright has coached the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain since 1973, and was hired as the Senior Tutor of Percussion at the Royal Northern College of Music in 1980.
Ian Wright currently serves as the Director of Percussion Studies at the RNCM, while still being in high demand as a timpanist and percussion player.
