Gustavo Gimeno is principal percussionist at the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam in The Netherlands (since April 2002), alongside percussionists Jan Pustjens and Herman Rieken, and Marinus Komst and Nick Woud on timpanis.
Gustavo Gimeno was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Spain, the European Comm Youth Orchestra, the Amsterdam Percussion Group and the Dutch contemporary music ensemble, and The Interval Chamber.
Also a keen chamber musician, Gustavo performs with the Katia & Marielle Labeque piano duo. As percussion duo (with Lorenzo Ferrandiz) they were awarded 2nd prize in the International Percussion Competition of Luxembourg, plus the Ady Mootzz and Honnert prizes for the best interpretations.
They also performed the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam as finalists in the Vriendenkrans Concours. During the last seasons, the duo performed in England, Germany, Holland, Spain, France, Ukraina, Bielorussia, and Russia.
Since 2001, Gustavo has taught at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and at the Musikene School of Music in the Basque Country, as well as at important conservatories like those of Minsk, Saint Petersburg and Moscow.
