George Delgado was born in the Bronx to Puerto Rican parents on July 19, 1965. At the age of four he started playing congas after his father, was not a performing musician but a house one, showed George some simple steps.
By age 6 or 7 George Delgado started playing timbales as well, with bongos picked up as a teenager. By the age of fourteen was later was living in Puerto Rico and had already started performing with some local groups. Around 1978 he got what he considers his first big break: George started playing timbales with Tito Rojas in the town of Humacao where he 's from. In 1983 George Delgado relocated back to New York and by '84 he started with a group called "Los Kimy" featuring Kimy Solis as vocalist. Rey Saba was apart of that group as well. From there on George Delgado went on to play with Tito Allen, Menique, Santiago Ceron, Tipica 88, and Manny Oquendo's Libre.
From there George Delgado contiued playing and recording with the world's finest musicians such as Tito Rojas, Manny Oquendos Libre, Steve Turre, Sonora Matancera, Oscar de Leon, Tony Vega, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Latin Giants, Jose Alberto, Spanish Harlem Orquestra and many other acts. George: "I also have my own production that was released in 2005, "Mi Ritmo Llego" under the Rumba Jams label.I'm currently a member of the Spanish Harlem Orquestra and also have been teaching percussion at Boys Harbor for the last ten years. I also do clinics and master classes. I'm a self taught musician influenced by many greats such as Johnny "Dandy" Rodriguez, Ray Barretto, Nicky Marreo, Tommy Lopez Sr. and Jr. Eddie Montalvo, Tata Guines, Oreste Vilato, Manny Oquendo, Yeyito Iglesias, and many more."
