Many words could describe the italian drummer Gennaro Barba but none of them is enough. He has: sense of rhythm - music - energy - enthusiasm - passion - professionality - perseverance - versatility - likeability - humour and...more over!
Each of these words is part of his great personality that influence anyone meet him!(for example he would love all people play drums or another instrument and enjoy music like he do!) What is more, he is a very helpful and reliable person like few people among the artists.
Gennaro Barba, born on 12 june 1954 in Naples, ( this is a warranty about the sense of rhythm!), since he was a child has shown a natural aptitude for percussions. If he is now a big drummer it is maybe for his attraction to a little and rough drums that belonged to his cousin: so Gennaro, curious like every child, approached it and...TIC... TAC...BUM...started playing without someone had taught him how to do! Then Gennaro learned himself to play drums and only 16 years old he was performing at some quite well known pubs and discos in the north Italy. When he discovered that his son Mariano loved playing drums like him, Gennaro decided to improve his knowledge of the theory of music.
In conclusion, Gennaro could be defined as a man with a big personality that loves searching and experimenting new sounds. For his versatility and ability of expert drummer, he can manage to combine many kind of music. He has also a deep wish to go beyond the limits of conventional formulas and tradictional languages.
At the moment he is art director of the school Ritmo & Suono in Naples, plays in some groups, and he is also endorser in clinics and workshops.
