Maestro François Glorieux, acclaimed throughout Europe, the USA, Latin-America, Canada, Japan, China, the Middle East and Africa, is one of Belgium's most famous and versatile artist traveling the international circuit today: pianist, composer, conductor, commentator, entertainer, honorary Professor of the Music Conservatory Ghent, guest Professor at Yale University(USA) and director of the International Piano Master-class in Antwerp.
His particular art was the rare one of improvisation; presented in five languages. Glorieux practiced all musical styles, performed over 8000 concerts in 65 countries and has been highly considered by great artists and colleagues such as Maestro André Cluytens, Arthur Rubinstein, Yves Nat, Hiroyuki Iwaki, Enrique Jorda, Raphael Fruhbeck de Burgos, Michael Jackson, Stan Kenton, Stéphane Grapelli, Paul Mc Cartney, Toots Thielemans, Jacky Collins, Dionne Warwick, A.C.Jobim etc.....
Certain facts of his very busy life claim our special attention: triumphant tours with the late Maestro André Cluytens in Germany and Austria, collaboration as composer and conductor with the "Ballet of the XXth Century", the "Royal Ballet of Flanders", the "Nederlands Danstheater", the "Nationaal Ballet Amsterdam" with choreographers Maurice Béjart, Leclair, Panov, Koning,Corelli and Loza.
He also conducted the famous "Stan Kenton Band" (USA), the "Locke Brass Consort of London", the "National Symphony Orchestra"(UK) , the "BBC Radio Orchestra", the "New Tokyo Symphony", the "Kiev Chamber Orchestra"(Ukraine), the "Mainzer Kammerorchester"(Germany), and performed as soloist With "Rias", "Munchner Rundfunkorchester", " Hamburger Symphoniker", "Orchestre Colonne"(Paris), "Orchestre de la Suisse Romande (Geneva) etc......
Glorieux is the founder of 4 particular ensembles: "Panoramic Trio", "the Brass and Percussion Orchestra", "Instrumentarium", and the recent "Revivat Scaldis Chamber Orchestra".
Honored with the title of 'European Honorary Senator' and many other decorations and International top-awards Glorieux was during nine months number one in the Classical Hit Parade in Japan and received several golden records.
His discography is remarkable : more than 40 CD/LP-productions by most famous labels such as EMI, Vanguard, Arcade, Masters voice, Decca, Victor etc... For his 40th anniversary of his intensive career BMG released a recent celebration box of 10 CD's , resuming the artist in all his aspects. François Glorieux appears in most of significant dictionaries worldwide (Baker,Grove,Larousse,Standaard,....)
He composed over 300 works in different styles and strengths with famous titles such as "Manhattan", "Mouvements", "Divertimento", "Ritus Paganus", "Gallery", "Farewell", "Hymn to humanity", "Fanfare for Europe","London Proms Ouverture"etc...
Starting 2001 he cooperates with Ludwig Albert and is preparing his new album "François Glorieux meets Ludwig Albert" with own compositions for piano and marimba. Awarded with the percussion Award 2001, he composed the obligatory piece for the International Marimba Competition 2004 and will appear during the final round Competition 2004 as honorable Jury-member.
