Erik's 20+ years drumming career has taken him to various musical directions. Being influenced early by the likes of Alice Cooper, Van Halen, Queen, Led Zeppelin and Kiss, it is obvious that Erik is a grooving rock drummer from the heart. However, being a quick study and open to almost all musical styles, he has been asked for numerous bands and projects in the past.
At the age of 4, Erik got interested in the band Kiss. At kindergarten, he performed with some friends as Kiss at a playback-show.
Soon after that, he got a "Toys R Us"-drumkit which he managed to thrash in about three months. Couple of years later he started to smash pans and pots with pencils and so on, which was the more or less official start to his drumming career.
Being heavily inspired by grooving pop, rock and metal from an early age on, it's not strange that Erik can be a hard-hitter. However, during his career he played in different kinds of bands and environments; from rock/grunge/metal to jazz in a living-room ensemble; from a blues/dixieland big-band to a musical orchestra; variety has always been one of Erik's trademarks.
Enjoying the recording process and birth of songs and albums, Erik will first and foremost always be the stage-animal. The feeling of playing live, picking up the vibe of an audience and throwing it right back into the show is what he loves most of everything. It's not strange that he has been compared to the late Keith Moon, because Erik is a drummer who is very present when on stage!
Most important for Erik is that he wants to have fun making the best product imaginable! And he wants an audience to have fun with him by providing them with the best performance he can! Both listening to an album as well as attending a concert should be awesome and FUN in it's own right for an audience, and it's Erik's job to make sure that the audience gets more than the best.
So when you attend a gig where Erik is involved in, leave your political and religious views at home! In his opinion, we're all here for the same reason, where love and peace rule and where he will rock your socks off!!
