Session drummer Earl Harvin worked with many artists, inlcuding Lizz Wright and Bettye Lavette.
Earl Harvin is a New York area native who took up residence in Texas, later Los Angeles, and now lives in Berlin, Germany. He began his musical endeavors studying orchestral percussion at age 9. Later, he briefly attended the highly acclaimed jazz department of the University of North Texas where he was a member of the One o'Clock jazz big band for one year. He soon discovered that Dallas was full of gigs and great musicians and began playing with several local jazz and rock bands including the late,great James Clay, the ecelctic Ten Hands, Billygoat, and his own noise-rock band Rubberbullet.
After a few years he was enlisted to play in MC 900 foot Jesus, an international cult favorite based in Dallas. With the exposure this afforded he was soon in demand in the studio and live by many top name artists and producers including Seal, The The, The Psychedelic Furs, Trevor Horn, Craig Street, The Art Of Noise, The Frames, Joe Henry, Richard Thompson, and most recently the French band Air.
Earl Harvin also plays drums on Tarja Turunen's solo album "My Winter Storm". He was personally selected by Tarja after she saw him stealing the show at a Seal concert.
