Rasa Don (real name: Donald Jones) was born in Trenton, New Jersey. He was Arrested Development's original drummer. He was raised in New Jersey and moved to Atlanta with then-girlfriend Dionne Farris to study at an Atlanta art school. His schooling was waylaid when he and Farris met AD's Speech and DJ Headliner. The two joined the band, Rasa Don as AD's first drummer and Farris as a back-up singer.
Rasa Don added hisbreezy, reggae-to-funk-influenced beats to the AD mix. Although Rasa Don never played on any of the studio albums, he was with the original incarnation at Lollapalooza and on the band's 1993 "Unplugged" album. Rasa Don was featured on this album alongside second drummer Ju Ju House and percussionists Atiba Wilson and David Pleasant.
Right now Rasa Don has only recorded demo tapes of his work and although the recordings could use better production, his vocalese and musicianship shine through — especially on the soulfully streetwise song "Knowledge For Truth."
