Dimitris Christodoulakis is a young talented musician who has practiced hard over the last years to build a unique sound and a quality approach to all the music situations he has been called to take part in. His influence from the drummers of the past decades up to today made him successfully meet the needs of modern music and performing.
A native of Athens Greece, Dimitris Christodoulakis began his music studies in 1992 at the age of 17 at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory in Athens. He studied drums and music harmony with Spyros Panagiotopoulos. After that and while he was performing with several music bands in the area he took the big step and moved to Los Angeles and studied at the Los Angeles Music Academy under great teachers and musicians such as Ralph Hamphrey, Mike Shapiro, Jo Porcaro, J.R. Robinson, Tony Inzalako, Mike Packer, Jerry Steinholtz, Carl Allen, Serman Ferguson and many more. While in L.A., he won in 2 scholarship competitions. One was for the Dolo Cocker jazz scholarship foundation and the other was the Americans society of young musicians.
The past 10 years have been very busy for Dimitris with appearances in Europe, Australia and United States with several pop singers and also a lot of performances with many Jazz and Latin bands.
Since 2001 he has been teaching at the Philippos Nakas Conservatory.
He became a Yamaha artist in 2008 and he performed in the first European Yamaha Groove All stars night which took part in the Frankfurt Messe along with J.R. Robinson, Wolfgang Haffner, Tommy Aldridge, Rick Marrotta, Andrew Small, Andy Newmark and many others.
