Detlef Villerius (born as Detlef Scholten in Hoensbroek, 1979), starts playing drums at about the age of ten and is part of various bands from country to death metal.
In 1998 Detlef figures that making electronic music by himself means that he doesn’t have to consider other people’s opinions, which was just what he needed. Shortly after this discovery there was another one, namely, the tekno scene. In 2000 he started an independent hardcore/tekno label and named it “Kill Me Entertainment.“ Under the name of Kombat Ki he released a few relatively successful albums.
After a long break he just couldn’t resist the sticks anymore and went back to playing in bands, joining bands like Thom Revolver, Dyzack and Spider Rico.
Gradually the urge grew to experiment more with sounds and electronic music, since september 2006 he is doing this under the alias of Chap-A-Tow. As Chap-A-Tow, Detlef Villerius batters the listener with everything that stuck from the early days, rags from his tekno background and a touch of impro-jazz.
Crooked rhythms, squeaking and faltering breaks, bittersweet melodies, raw basslines and gabber kicks follow each other at a frantic pace. These
