Dennis Acton started as musician in the mid eighties with traditional African percussion and studied with several master percussionists including Ponda O’Bryan and Kaloga Traore. In the early nineties he switched to latin percussion and took private lessons with master Gerardo Rosales. For the last couple of years he further expanded his skills to Brazilian, Arabic-Spanish and Peruvian percussion. For Estudiantina Ensemble he studied the Pailitas Cubanas with master percussionist Steve Boston. He currently also performs with the bands Grupo Guarapo (charanga salsa), Sephora (gypsy, latin and swing) and Mango! (world jazz).
