David Peters, a native of Louisiana, started playing professionally at the age of 15. He began a recording career as a studio musician in the early 70's, where he met and began playing with John Fred and the Playboys (#1 Judy in Disguise).
David Peters originally joined Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown's band Gate's Express in 1976. That same year he played on Gatemouth's Blackjack album and toured Africa with Gatemouth and the band. He also performed with Gate's Express on one of the first television broadcasts of Austin City Limits.
In 1978, David Peters left Gate's Express to become a member and co-founder of the nationally known band Louisiana's LeRoux (New Orleans Ladies). The group released 5 albums and toured with Kansas, Journey, The Doobie Brothers, Bob Seiger, Charlie Daniels, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Santana and others.
Peters returned to "Gate's Express" in 1993, and since that time, he has performed on 3 additional Gatemouth recordings - The Man, Gate Swings (Big Band), and American Music Texas Style (Big Band).
