David Machander, who mainly played in local bands such as Meatwagon, and Victoria, joined Canadian metal veterans Annihilator as their touring drummer for their 'Refresh the Demon' Europe tour in 1996.
Dave Machander and Annihilator guitarist/vocalist/band leader Jeff Waters met under stressful circumstances, when Annihilator's current drummer Randy Black left the band only 12 days before the tour would take off.
With Meatwagon, Dave recorded the full-length album 'Left With Nothing' in 1996 (released via Bujdoso Productions).
Dave Machander named Scott Travis, Gene Hoglan, Vinnie Paul, George Kollias, Paul Bostaph, along with Buddy Rich, and Neil Peart as sources of inspiration.
David Machander was born in the Czech Republic in Europe and came to Canada with his parents when he was only 1 year old.
Dave named winning a drum contest at age ten as his favorite childhood experience.
After playing for over 35 years, Dave Machander died of cancer on November 18, 2010 in Victoria, BC. He was just 43 years of age.
