Danny Needham is a session drummer who has worked with various aritsts including 4Him, Garth Brooks and former Black Sabbath frontman Tony Martin.
More recently Danny "Dante" Needham has been drumming with legendary black metal outfit Venom. Danny joined Venom in 2009 and quickly became part of the band's busy touring and recording schedule.
Biography:
Danny Needham began playing the drums in the 1980’s with bands in his home town of Sheffield. He always had his sights set high turning professional at 19 and touring around the UK and overseas with bands such as Steve Johnson's ([Phil Lynott's ex guitarist]) band called Guns N' Oatcakes, and the band Powerplay.
After a few years Danny Needham moved up north to Newcastle and joined the band Alexander’s Palace, although it wasn’t long before he was approached by ex MTV Presenters & Rock/Metal Journalists ‘The Bailey Brothers’, who offered him the position of drummer in their band Baileys Comet which featured ex Black Sabbath vocalist Tony Martin.
Some years later when Tony Martin formed his solo band, he recruited Danny Needham on drums along with ex Quartz and Black Sabbath keyboardist Geoff Nicholls, they toured in such countries as: Brazil, Russia and all over Europe. Danny also toured across Europe with German based 'Razorback' to promote their latest album ‘Deadringer’; their drummer Mike Terrana (ex Yngwie Malmsteen) had other commitments with Masterplan.
On the road Danny Needhamy has toured with such bands as: Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Slayer, Glenn Hughes, Tony Iommi, Twisted Sister, Killswitch Engage, Uriah Heep, Testament, Joe Lynn Turner, Foreigner, Y&T and Nazareth, to name a few.
In 2009 Danny Needham was contacted by the Management of Black Metal legends Venom as they were holding auditions for a new drummer, and despite being up against several other well established metal drummers with touring experience with well known metal bands, Venom decide Danny is the right man for the band and they enter the studio to rehearse for an upcoming tour and begin writing new songs for the next Venom album.
After deciding on the stage name Dante, the band headed off to South America in December, they played shows in Mexico, Columbia, Chile, Argentina and Brazil. The video footage from the packed concerts load up on sites like YouTube, and Venom’s Latin Legions came out in force to give their full support and total acceptance of the new line up. 2010 was a very busy year for Venom, and with Danny "Dante" Needham celebrating his first year in the band, the band embarked on a series of very important headline shows at some of Europe’s largest Metal festivals like: the infamous With Full Force Festival in Germany; The Basingfire Festival in Czech Republic; The Hole In The Sky Festival in Norway; The Rock Weekender Festival in Sweden; The Nummirock Festival in Finland and the Global East Rock Festival in Kiev Ukraine. Venom have also played a select number of shows in some exciting new territories including; Bulgaria, Poland and Russia. A new live DVD featuring a collection of concert footage is currently in the making for release in 2012.
Early 2011, Venom took a break from song writing to visit another new territory in Portugal to headline The SWR Barroselas Festival, before entering the studio and working on new material for their next album. The songs come together very quickly, with Danny contributing with the song writing. The result, a 13 track monster album titled ‘Fallen Angels’ Mixed by Tom Belton at his London Studio. November 2011 and Venom perform two festival headline shows, 'The Legends of Rock Festival' in another new territory for the band, Bucharest Romania and the 'Christmas Metal Festival' in Germany.
Fallen Angels is released worldwide on 28th November 2011 by Universal/Spinefarm Music to critical acclaim. The album is featured and reviewed in all the major Rock/Metal publications around the World.
2012 and Venom are confirmed to appear at '70,000 tons of metal' in the U.S.A aboard 'Royal Caribbean Majesty of the Sea' from Miami to the Cayman Islands between 23rd - 27th January 2012.
