Biography:
Drummer Dan Laudo began playing drums after hearing "Kiss Alive!" for the first time in 1975. Fueled by the power and bombast of that record, he started banging on any kind of makeshift drumset he could construct. Boxes, couch cushions and yes, pots and pans. Dan began lessons with local drummer extraordinaire Larry Paoletta. Dan soon formed a short lived group with future Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor and Ron Marks of Celtic Frost. While attending the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, Dan began playing in a variety of local cover bands.
Dan felt the urge for a "bigger pond" and moved to Los Angeles in 1986. After playing in several up and coming bands including Radio Babylon and Ton of Bricks. Dan formed the band March Hares with ex Black Cherry guitarist Josh Fields in 1996. They were produced by Guns n' Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke. Dan got the call to play with the band Prong in 1997.
This new incarnation of Prong included Frank Cavanaugh of the band FIlter, Rob Zombie guitarist Riggs and keyboardist Bill Rettie. After a 2 month U.S. tour, the group was on indefinite hiatus. Dan formed Pile of Heads with keyboardist/programmer Bill Rettie and Diesel Machine and HALFORD guitarist Pat Lachman. (singer for Damageplan) In 2000 Prong reformed with Flood bassist Brian Perry and Monte Pittman from MAdonna's touring band on guitar.
Prong toured the US in the spring of 2002, then again in the summer with rock legend Danzig. "100% Live" was released on Locomotive Music in October of 2002. The album was mixed by Kiss producer Pat Regan. Prong toured Europe in the fall of 2002 before going into the studio in January of 2003 to record "Scorpio Rising". Dan Laudo co-wrote material with Tommy Victor and Monte Pittman and Patrick Lachman.
Prong released "Scorpio Rising" on Locomotive Music in July of 2003 and toured Europe in the summer, playing shows with Metallica, Anthrax, Marilyn Manson and King Crimson. Dan was second director for the Prong video "All Knowing Force" from Scorpio Rising along with Rich Stahle of UMTV. Dan appeared in the music video "Dream American" by former Celtic Frost guitarist Ron Marks band Subsonic. Prong released their first ever live dvd "The Vault" on June 28th 2005. Dan Laudo is currently working on the debut of Big On Mars for Kooklavu Records.
