Located in Adelaide, South Australia, Craig Lauritsen has been a professional musician for more than twenty years and his obsession with cymbal sounds began soon afterwards.
Craig began a quest to find the ‘perfect’ cymbal and this search led to countless hours searching for as much information as he could about all aspects of cymbal creation. Part of Craig's study included getting his hands on many hundreds of cymbals from almost all of the major manufacturers and many independent cymbalsmiths. Craig Lauritsen: "I studied cymbal weights, profiles, tapers, hammering and lathing techniques, chemical composition, sonic characteristics etc.
I also travelled to many different countries, seeking out cymbal makers and master cymbalsmiths." Craig applied this knowledge to perform his own hammering and surface treatment techniques to existing cymbals, all in the desire to create more musical pieces of bronze.
As a professional drummer, Craig Lauritsen has performed and recorded with Peter Gelling among other. Since Feb 1990 Criag has written eight instructional drum method books which are published and internationally distributed by Koala Publications, including 'Progressive Drum Method', and 'Progressive Drum Grooves'.
