After Kyle Severn decide to leave Incantation in the second half of 1998, the band was searching for a replacement drummer for Kyle. Finally in October Clay Lytle, hailing from South Carolina and formerly of Fatal Aggression, joined the Incantation line up. They prepared for the first Chilean metalfest, which also included Death and Cannibal Corpse. This show was very successful as Incantations biggest show to date, with 7000 metal-starved maniacs showing their support. Returning from Chile, Clay departed the band.

Around this time, John McEntee decided to move Incantations home base to Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Soon after, John began to work with a local area drummer called Rick "Slim" Boast, who previously played in Necrotomie.



After his time with Fatal Agression Clay Lytle joined South Carolina death metallers Lecherous Nocturne. In 2000 Lytle bowed out but was re-recruited for the recording of Lecherous Nocturne's debut album in 2003. The next year saw Nile guitarist Dallas Toller-Wade joining the band as drummer, replacing Clay Lytle.
