Los Angeles, California based drummer Carlos Cruz is best known as timekeeper for Hexen, In Misery, War Ensemble, and Warbringer.
Carlos Cruz was born in Reseda, California on September 24th 1990, into a family of Mexican heritage with a prominent musical background. Thanks to both his father and grandfather being professional Latin musicians, Carlos’ interest in music sparked at a very young age. Carlos’ first years of instruction involved learning all music content by ear, accompanied by hours of rigorous rehearsal.
In 2004, Carlos Cruz joined the percussion section of the Granada Hills, California Marching Band. Having over 250 musicians, the marching band placed 1st in several high profile marching competitions throughout the state of California and landed soundtrack performances in films like Dogdeball: A True Underdog Story.
Carlos' formative years included performing with several upcoming Punk Rock and Heavy Metal groups throughout Los Angeles, finally landing an independent record deal with LA based, Progressive Metal band Hexen in 2008. After Hexen's debut album 'State of Insurgency' was released in the Summer of 2008, the band tour across the United States in its promotion. Hexen then signed to a larger international label for their follow up album, 'Being and Nothingness'.
Parting ways with Hexen in 2010, Carlos Cruz joined Warbringer in 2011. His departure from the band was announced in May 2014.
