At aged four Bradley was taped - standing at the drum kit, unable to reach the pedals - playing along to Lionel Richie and Anne Murray records.
At aged ten he was spotted by Lisa Grahame, lead alto sax, in Britain's National Youth Jazz Orchestra, who recommended Bradley to the top British jazz drummer Bobby Worth (1998 jazz drummer of the year). Bobby auditioned Bradley and began teaching him in 1995.
In 1996: In order to begin percussion lessons, Bobby Worth recommended Bradley to Michael Skinner (Principal Percussion, Royal Opera House; Professor of Snare Drum, Guildhall School of Music; Professor of Percussion, Royal College of Music; President, National Association of Percussion Teachers). Michael Skinner agreed to tutor Bradley, although he usually takes pupils at undergraduate level. Bradley sees Michael approximately every two months.
1996: Bradley began playing with the Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra II. He was booked by Tonbridge Grammar School for Girls as the drummer in their production of Ocean World. He also played drums for the Hilden Grange School production of Bugsy Malone, at the Angel Centre, Tonbridge. Bradley completed his probation to become a full chorister in Tonbridge School Choir.
1997: Booked to play drums in various jazz ensembles around Kent, including a cross channel luncheon for the Kent Chamber of Commerce. Bradley was invited to become an endorsee, and to be sponsored by Vic Firth; he became the youngest endorsee worldwide. Bradley received tuition from Los Angeles' leading drummer 'Zoro' and from legendary drum teacher Freddie Gruber. He also appeared as the Artful Dodger in his schools' production of Oliver.
1997: Winner of the 'Young Musician of the Year' in the Hilden Grange School Young Musician of the Year Competition on drum kit (quite unprecedented) and marimba. Subsequently awarded a H. G. Music Scholarship.
1998: First full engagement for Kent Youth Jazz Orchestra I. As of November 1998 Bradley had appeared for the first orchestra in six concerts. He also tied first place highest award, Singing - Solo Boys; Hastings Music Festival.
1998: Seen by Charlie Morgan - drummer with Elton John for twelve years - who recommended Brad for sponsorship from the cymbal company Sabian; Bradley was also recommended to Sabian by Ralph Salmins - Professor of Drum Kit, Royal Academy of Music and leading session drummer to leading groups including Van Morrison. Bradley became one of five young U.K. drummers to receive sponsorship on Sabian's young artists aid programme.
1999: In March Bradley appeared as the Lion in his schools' production of the Wizard of Oz. He was a snare drum player on stage for the National Youth Music Theater production of "The Ragged Child" at the Edinburgh Festival and the International Youth Festival in Aberdeen. He became an endorsee of Premier Percussion
Played a guest spot in the first band of Britain's top big band, The National Jazz Youth Orchestra. He also joined the Hattie Webb Quintet. Played Pizza Express Jazz Room and many other gigs.
2000: Brad landed a singing and acting part in the NYMT 'Ballad of Salomon Pavey' playing the Brewery Arts Centre, Cumbria; Corn Exchange, Newbury and at the historic Middle Temple Hall, London (where Shakespeare appeared in his own 'Twelfth Night')
He joined Britain's National Youth Jazz Orchestra 2nd Band. Awarded a Music scholarship to Tonbridge School (Bill Bruford's old school) from September 1999, Drum kit; Marimba and Voice. In January 2000 he began lessons with Bob Armstrong, Britain's number 1 drum kit tutor.
Attended America's biggest Music Equipment show "The Namm Show" - held in Nashville, July 2000 met with sponsors Vic Firth, Sabian, and Premier Percussion.
On March 11 2003 Bradley celebrated his 17th birthday.
Other Information: In 1998 and 2000 Bradley attended the seven day Michael Garrick, Royal Academy of Music Jazz Course. The three day Guildhall College of Music Graham Cole Percussion Course - tutors included Bill Bruford, who selected Bradley to perform a solo in front of 46 Percussionists/drummers (1998).
In 1998 Bradley was chosen as one of twelve drummers on stage at a Billy Cobham clinic.
In 2002 Brad has made the final of the Mike Dolbear Rhythm Magazine UK Young Drummer of The Year. That year the great Steve Cropper invited Brad to the Matt "guitar" Murphy tribute in Nashville. Through Cort Guitars, Brad was able to play drums in the band with Larry Coryell - with Bernard Purdie on percussion!
In 2003 Brad and his trio (Pete Cochrane, Bass; Sam Beste, Piano, have 7 great gigs at Pizza Express Music Room, Maidstone, Kent.
Aug 2003 Brad played his first drum clinic with the fantastic ZORO and Tony Mason. For two years or so Brad has been drummer with London Band Corporation Blend. He left in November 2003 by mutual consent in order to concentrate on A Levels as part of his music scholarship, and to focus on his music and academic studies before finally graduating after all exams finish in July 2004.
Oct 2003 saw Brad on tour with the legendary guitar virtuoso John Jorgenson - guitarist with Elton John, Bob Dylan, Pavarotti, Bonnie Raitt - and John has a huge discography with many other greats too.
December 2003 sees Brad on tour in Berlin, Cologne, Copenhagen, Brussels with the wonderful Ben Taylor (son of James Taylor and Carly Simon) and his fantastic band from America. They open for Sheryl Crow in some cities.
