Boris Williams was born as Boris Peter Bransby-Williams on April 24, 1957 in Versailles, France. Williams is an English drummer best known for his work with The Cure (1984-1994). He had previously worked with the Thompson Twins.



Boris Williams first joined The Cure in 1984 (November 7th in Minneapolis, USA), replacing Andy Anderson on drums. During his tenure, Boris helped The Cure reach their critical and commercial peak recording the studio albums The Head on the Door, Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, Disintegration, and Wish. He also appeared on the live albums Entreat, Paris, and Show as well as the videos Staring At The Sea, The Cure in Orange, Picture Show, Galore, and Greatest Hits.



Boris Williams is regarded by most fans as The Cure's definitive drummer. Some of his most innovative drumming can be heard on the songs "Six Different Ways" from The Head on the Door, "Icing Sugar" from Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me, and "Closedown" from Disintegration.



Boris Williams left the band in 1993 (June 13th in Finsbury Park, London), and started another Babacar with his girlfriend Caroline Crawley. He briefly reunited with The Cure for the acoustic recording of their Greatest Hits compilation in 2001, but he did not rejoin them officially.



Ever since Porl Thompson officially rejoined The Cure in 2005, many fans have posted messages on the Internet calling on Boris Williams to do the same. Many Cure fans consider Boris to be one of the most important members of the band along with Robert Smith, Simon Gallup, and Porl Thompson.
