Montreal, QC-based drummer Blair Youngblut plays drums with metal band Endast.
As a child, Blair Youngblut began tapping out beats on food containers and pots and graduated to a practice pad by age 8, mostly to save his parents sanity. Soon after, he began lessons with one of Ontario's most highly respected drum teachers, Gary Tomlin of Sherwood Music, Kitchener.
Standing behind a snare drum for a year and a half, Blair Youngblut learned drum rudiments to a metronome. He then moved to reading sheet music on a full drum kit, with different time variations such as Swing, Jazz, Rock and Blues. At the age of ten, after purchasing his first full drum kit with money he earned on his own, Blair Youngblut devoted long hours to practice by listening to other drummers.
Early influences were Soundgarden, Collective Soul, Foo Fighters, Sugar Ray and Silver Chair. The lessons and prac- tice sessions, and his pure dedication to his art, have made Blair the drummer that he is today.
Just before entering high school, Blair Youngblut discovered a much heavier side of music that began to influence him and his drumming. Playing with as many people as he could throughout his high school years, he learned how to jam with any vibe people had to offer.
In 2006, Blair Youngblut joined the band Into The Ashes, a metal band from Toronto, Ontario. The band had been performing live, with their original material, for some time. Unfortunately, after writing 5 songs with Blair, the other band members parted ways due to different life goals.
In 2008, Blair Youngblut was asked to audition for the underground metal band Endast in Montreal Canada. After practicing to the Endast album 'Odds Against Tomorrow' for a couple of weeks, Blair drove from Kitchener to Montreal for the audition. At the end of the audition, Blair was asked to join the band. Two weeks later, Montreal became his new home. Blair played his first-ever live show with Endast and remains a member to this day.
