Arend Niks (Schiedam, 1960) completed a study of percussion at the Rotterdam Conservatory in 1986. He has worked as a composer/drummer since.
Arend Niks has played in and written for several groups, including Corrie en de Grote Brokken, Nenette et les Zezettes and percussion group Motel Bokassa. Arend also worked for theatre productions like Orkater, FACT and Growing up in Public. On top of that he added his skills to dance productions by Djazzex and Scapino, and for television programmes Poggibonsi and Opium (which produced a special about his work).
As a band-leader Arend Niks has worked with different line-ups (Niks/Niks Project/New Niks) and as co-leader with 'A.F.' and 'No Can Do'.
