Allister Brown was born in Belfast on 1st August 1977 and has been drumming for the last 17 years. He is currently the only drummer from the UK to achieve a World Record for the Longest Drumming Marathon by an individual.
Allister Brown started off learning percussion with the SEELB training centre playing in both senior concert band and orchestra before passing an audition to takeover the drumming role for Lysnagarvey Operatic. He has been playing many shows and pantomimes ever since not only for Lysnagarvey but with other companies to.
Allister Brown is also the drummer for up and coming Lisburn based band Universal Remedy who have played in many venues across Ireland over the last few years.
In 2003 Allister Brown was presented with a challenge by the owner of the Lisburn School of Music Stephen McLaughlin to help celebrate the anniversary of the school being open. This challenge was of course to try and beat a Guinness World Record on the drums.
On Monday 8th September 2003 Allister Brown started his attempt to break the record for the longest dumming marathon by an individual. At that time the record stood at 58 hours held by Russ Prager of USA. On Wednesday evening Allister with torn tendons in his arms and legs went on to beat the record by 17 minutes.
After a few weeks of verification it was confirmed by Guinness World Records that Allister Brown was the new World Record Breaker of Individual drumming marathon of 58 hours and 17 minutes.
