Alfredo Dias Gomes was born in 1960, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At the age ten he began to study drums with teacher Sut. Also studied with Zé Eduardo Nazário and with the american drummer Don Alias.
At eighteen years old, Alfredo used for the first time as professional in the band of Hermeto Pascoal, recorded the album "Cérebro Magnético" and he played in many shows, highlighting II Festival of Jazz of SP/Montreaux and Rio Monterrey Festival.
After that, he played and recorded with:
Márcio Montarroyos, highlighting Sala Funarte's shows; Ricardo Silveira, highlighting Free Jazz in SP and a track with David Sanborn "Afoxé"; Torcuato Mariano, Arthur Maia, Nico Assumpção, Guilherme Dias Gomes, Leo Gandelman, Rique Pantoja, Raul Mascarenhas, Luís Avelar, Victor Biglione, Marcos Resende, Luciano Alves, Luizão Maia, Zé Lourenço and with Pindorama group, and many other friends.
In 2000 recorded "GAS", with Igor Araújo (bass) and Norman Sharp (guitar), produced by Alfredo Dias Gomes.
He played from 1988 to 1993 with Ivan Lins. He traveled for Brazil, Portugal, England, France, Germany, Italy, USA and Japan, besides the saxophonist and keyboard player Lary Williams and of singer Brenda Russell; he recorded the albums "Amar Assim" and "Ivan Lins 20 Anos" with guitarist Heitor TP's participation (live).
He also played with Heróis da Resistência (he participated in the first formation of the group and recorded in USA with production of Liminha), Lulu Santos, Ritchie, Kid Abelha, Sergio Dias, Guinga, Zé Renato, Moraes Moreira, Vinícius Cantuária, Taryn Spielman, Mimi Lessa e Orquestra de Guitarras and others.
In 1985 recorded the single "SERVIÇO SECRETO", his first experience as soloist.
In 1991 released "ALFREDO DIAS GOMES", with Ivan Lins's special appearence.
In 1996 released "ATMOSPHERE", with super special participations of Frank Gambale and Dominic Miller (Sting).
In 2005 released "GROOVE", to celebrate 35 years of drums.
In 1994 he released in Europe and United States a diskette with midi files about the main brazilian rhythms, "TWIDDLY BEATS / BRAZILIAN RHYTHMS AS MIDI FILES", played by Alfredo and produced by singer Ritchie for english company Keifax Software.
In 1998 recorded a "VIDEO DRUM CLASS" with exercises, brazilian rhythms, grooves, solos and songs of cd "Atmosphere".
In 2001 released the PLAY ALONG, with musics without drums, to be played by students.
By now, Alfredo is working in your own career recording his new album and giving drum classes.
