Drummer Alex Marquez (Miami, Florida, 1970) recorded with bands like Solstice, Demolition Hammer, Anger, Resurrection and Malevolent Creation (the 'Retribution' and 'Stillborn' albums).
Alex started playing the snare at about 13, and a full drum kit at 14.
Alex joined Demolition Hammer after replacing Vincent Civitano, better known as Vinny Daze, in 1994.
Previously Alex had played in Solstice, a band Marquez had formed with guitarist Dennis Munoz in 1990.
In December 2003 Alex Marquez reunited with his former Solstice bandmate Munoz in a "power metal/early '80s thrash" band called Apocalypse Rising.
The quartet, which is completed by second guitarist Willy Medina and bass player Mike Marabell, sees Marquez handling the vocal duties. The band plans to have a drummer for live performances while Alex will be recording all the drum tracks in the studio. According to Marquez, the singing will be "very melodic yet very aggressive."

In a September 2008 statement, Alex Marquez explained his lengthy absence from the metal scene: "These last years have been really crazy for me — I've been in and out of jail, battled substance and alcohol abuse that kept me from ever completing anything I ever started. Life sometimes has a way of kicking you in the ass, and for me that kick came when I reunited with my wonderful wife and my four beautiful children"(...) It took me the better part of last year to clean up and most of this year to get back into playing shape. As a result, I lost about 90 pounds — from 330 to 240 pounds — and playing as good as, if not better than, ever."
