Drummer Russell Gilbrook is an independent artist.
Over the last few years Russell has been establishing himself on the UK clinic tour scene and impressing many with his unique brand of performing and teaching. He has supported artists such as Greg Bissonette and completed a tour with Liberty Devito. Russell continually strives to push himself musically and has played in a remarkably diverse set of situations.
Russ Gilbrook has worked with the respected jazz artist Chris Barber and his band, Alan Price, as well as the heavier projects including Rockzilla, Expose, and of course filling the stool of the late great Cozy Powell in Bedlam. His band The Gods (Generators Of Distorted Sound) have completed there debut album in the USA and played on Ozzfest. Russell also worked on Tony Iommi's next album. His softer side is further demonstrated on work with Lonnie Donnegan and even the legendary Van Morrison. He joined Uriah Heep in March 2007.
Not content with just playing, Russell Gilbrook teaches on the Musicians channel on Sky and holds a position at the brighton Institute of Modern Music; he has also published several teaching guides. Russell has co-designed with Marrell the kickbeaters that he plays. Russell uses and abuses Mapex Drums, A Custom Marrell lightspeed Snare and Bigfoot kickbeaters, Ziljian Cymbals, Aquarian heads, and Regal Tip sticks.
