Every once in a while I find myself listening to a song or an album and really feel like playing along. Especially to the ones that have no drums.

Part 8: Emilie Nicolas - Dark Matter
Being the folky background-drummer I am, loving the mellow acoustic stuff, but playing with people like Tessa and Pitou who both in their own way have a very contemporary approach in their writing, singing and playing, I sometimes really have to dig deep to come up with the right drum parts to their songs.

They and a few others have unknowingly challenged me to start listening to other stuff. That's how I came across Emilie Nicolas and her song 'Dark Matter' that's on her latest album 'Tranquille Emile'.

For me the challenge lies in making the hybrid (electronic/acoustic) thing work. Acoustic drums in electronic productions, while maintaining the littlest nuances and whispers.

This 'song withouth drums' was a tough one. I think this is take 10 or something. But I think I got it!
