I think that Samba is one of the most powerful and intense style of music full of movement and energy. Watching videos from Brazil where a guy with Repinique leads thousands of people with drums through narrow street of their cites playing SAMBA and listening to their huge sound echoing house to house street to street all over Brazil made me try to play this phenomenon on a drum set. I wanted to get as close to the original sound and energy as possible. I know I am about 250 people shy on the Surdos and about 400 on the Tamborims but I hope I got close. I am playing 2 surdo parts. One with my bass drum accenting the 2nd beat, second one on my Floor tom that changes and gets busier toward the end, Caixa / Tambourim parts on my snare drum with samba whistle parts on top. Underneath it all I keep 3/2 Son Clave on my own design Laminated Wood Block "Lam-Block
