A short drum solo by Dylan Howe during a high octane Rhythm and Blues performance by the legendary Wilko Johnson at The Sevenoaks Community Arts Centre on 19 June 2011. Wilko's rhythm section also features the equally legendary Norman Watt-Roy from The Blockheads on bass.
For the few viewers who are not already aware, Wilko was the original guitarist in Dr. Feelgood and wrote most of their classic songs which he still performs to this very day, in his truly unique way.
As well as performing with Wilko, Dylan Howe is also highly respected as one of Britain's leading jazz luminaries with his own duo, quartet and quintet and has released a numbers of CDs under his own right which are well worth checking out. I particularly enjoyed his jazz interpretations of Low era Bowie tracks having seen the original Low Bowie tour back in 1978, and also as this is one of the few musical fields that Bowie has not really explored.
Having seen Dylan Howe perform with Wilko a number of times and been blown away by his playing, I decided to check out a couple of his jazz units in concert and have really enjoyed them and the live jazz experience really adds something extra.
