Officially named the Limited Edition Collector's Series 45th Anniversary drumsets, the 145 kits that DW Drums makes to celebrate their 45th Anniversary as a brand, are a unique piece of work, wood and craftsmanship. And it gets better: they are made of Stradivarius spruce, the same wood used for building the most expensive violins in the world. John Good, DW's 'Woodologist,' found this special wood in the Paneveggio Forest - also known as the 'Forest of the Violins - in the Fiemme Valley in Northern Italy. DW Drums is the first-ever drum manufacturer to be allowed to harvest the most sought after acoustic wood in the world.
Crafted in DW's California Custom Shop in Oxnard, CA the drum sets feature a core of Norwegian Spruce with an outer layer of highly figured European Sycamore finished in a Natural-to-Candy Black Burst Lacquer Specialty finish.
Each drum is encircled with a detailed center inlaid band with the DW logo and the Roman numeral 45. These inlays are laser-cut and hand-assembled exotic woods including Italian Grey Poplar, Black-Dyed Pearwood, and Blue Sapphire-Dyed Koto. Naturally, a special 45th Anniversary DW logo badge is on the drums as well.
