HereÂ’s an abbreviated version of "Run For Cover," written by Marcus Miller for the late great David Sanborn release, Voyeur (1981). ItÂ’s been covered so many times, but I HAD to put at least a little bit of our version up here from the Smooth Jazz Cruise, February, 2025.

As Marcus says in the video: this song features the BASS - so thatÂ’s kinda where weÂ’re starting from here.

Marcus has always inspired me (to even try to thump on the bass a bit!), but besides a jingle or two in the studios in NYC in the early/mid '80s, I never really got to play with him. For me, this gig was a career highlight (thank you Eric Marienthal, SJC musical director, for the invite!)

When it comes to time, groove, consistency of sound, phrasing, and the coolest slap bass sh*t ever, he stands alone - Legend!
